On Sunday September 20th, 2015 the Raritan River Region-CLC held its 5th Annual show at Gold Coast Cadillac in Oakhurst New Jersey.
The early morning weather was overcast and chilly as the members started their various duties in setting up for the event and was a contributing factor in a lower than expected turnout.
After registration closed at noon the sun was shining and it turned out to be a beautiful day.
We had 55 cars in attendance including 3 non-Cadillacs.
As this was our 5th year, Director Jeff Montgomery suggested the Theme of the Showroom cars be 1950’s.
As one entered the showroom, you were presented with MID-CENTURY MAGNIFICENCE!!
Jeremy Weiss’ 1953 Eldorado, Joe Puleo’s 1959 Fleetwood, Jay Raskin’s 1956 Series 62 Convertible and Bob Crimmins’ 1955 Coupe de Ville, all sitting under brilliant overhead lights made for quite an eyeful.
The club provided free coffee and donuts to start the day’s activity and as part of the registration cost, they also provided free pizza, soda and water for the guests at lunch time.
Judging under the watchful eye of Head Judge Bernie Cooney went on without a hitch.
The awards ceremony started promptly at 2PM. First, Second and Third Place Ribbons for the various pre-assigned classes along with Best of Show, early and late and Dealers Choice were presented to the winners.
Chairman Doug Lansing instituted a Youth Award Program this year. Two 11 year old boys named Tommy Hurley and Christopher Kendzierski were attending with their folks-a first time event for both of them. When Doug asked if they would like to participate-they were thrilled at the chance.
Altho they never met before, they became instant friends and with a clipboard and pen in hand, started off , looking at each car, devising a rating system and ended up choosing First, Second and Third Place awards.
Needless to say, they were the hit of the awards ceremony
In closing, Director Jeff Montgomery thanked Gold Coast for allowing us to present the show and presented management with a gift -a framed Dan Reed print called “FINS”
We all look forward to our 2016 Show with perhaps nice weather all day long.
