by Caddy Corner Editor, Ray Koziol:

For 1963, Cadillac styling was markedly changed.  Gone are the sharp corners and sculptured lines of the 1961 & 1962 models, replaced by flowing, smooth curved styling.  The motoring public embraced this new style and when the books were closed on the 1963 model year, Cadillac once again set a new sales record with total production peaking at 163,174 units.  New styling wasn't the only change for 1963 ~ a totally revamped engine was also introduced.  Although neither the displacement nor horsepower figures changed, the 1963 engine was quieter, smoother and more efficient than its predecessor.  The new engine utilized aluminum accessory drives, was dimensionally narrower and shorter and weighed 82 pounds less than the 1962 version.

More "firsts" for 1963 could be found on the Options list.

A newly designed Air Conditioning/Heating system could be ordered for $474.

Another record breaker for the 1963 model year involves interior selections.  For 1963, a total of 143 interior appointment choices were offered.  To name but a few, buyers could choose from wool, leather or nylon upholstery, cloth & leather combinations, bucket seats, bench seats and wood veneer facings for the dash, doors, and seat backs.  There were 25 interior trim colors and 21 exterior paint colors to choose from.

This Series 62 Coupe is finished in Benton Blue.  A Blue cloth and coated fabric interior compliments the exterior finish.  This Cadillac is powered by a 390 cubic-inch V-8 that produces 325 horsepower.  Fuel is fed through a Rochester 4-barrel carburetor.  When new, this car carried a MSRP base price of $5,026.
