I have had this car for
about 7 years now. Some how or other, other projects went
ahead of it. Now it is time!
The car was stripped to bare
metal, then all necessary sheet metal repair work was done. This car had
very little rust, which is one of the reasons I bought it. When I
found out that the air worked I had to have it.
'61 is my favorite year. I
love the chiseled lines. Over the years I have had a Series 62
Coupe, a Series 62 Sedan, two Town Sedans and two Fleetwoods. When I got
the convertible I made it road worthy by overhauling the suspension,
brake lines, complete brake job, fixed a burnt valve, a good detail and
new tires and then I drove the heck out of it. What a nice ride!
I intend to change the color
to a color I have never had before. The engine ran like a clock and was
powerful and quiet but with 140K on it, the front and rear seals leak
like a sieve, not to mention the massive amount of sludge inside the
engine, but it purred like a kitten! A testament to the way they used to
build them... I have a rebuilt engine ready for it bored 30 over that
came out of my coupe 12 years ago. I hope it runs as good as the
engine I took out. Well that is where I am at with it - it is ready for
paint!
