The year 1955 was a record breaker for the automotive industry and Cadillac in particular.  A total of 140,777 Cadillac cars were produced.  This Series 62 Sedan is one of 45,300 sedans produced for the 1955 model year and was the most popular model produced by Cadillac.  It is often referred to as a "Six-Window" sedan because of the small vent windows located behind the rear door post.

This Cadillac is powered by a 331 cubic inch, 250 horsepower, V-8 engine.  A four barrel Rochester carburetor delivers the fuel.  This car measures 216.3" in length and weighs in at 4,370 pounds.  When new it carried a base sticker price of $3,970.

Popular Cadillac options included:

bullet

Heating & ventilation system - $129

bullet

Radio & antenna - $132

bullet

Power brakes - $48

bullet

Four-way power seat - $70

bullet

Power windows - $108

Also available, as an option, were whitewall tires, "E-Z Eye" safety glass (tinted windows) and the Cadillac "Autronic Eye" automatic headlight dimmer.  Air conditioning could be purchased for $620.  For an extra $161, any 1955 Cadillac could be equipped with the 270 horsepower, twin four-barrel carburetor engine used in the Eldorado Series.

This Cadillac is finished in Arlington Green with a Gray brocade cloth interior.
