1952 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special

I took delivery of my 1952 Fleetwood on February 3, 2002.  While searching Hemmings internet ads one day I came across an ad for this car.  Having never satisfied my “1952-1953 Craving”,  I decided to discuss this “find” with the “boss”.  When I taught the sales process to insurance folks I started each lesson with the steps of the sale.  First you sell the appointment.  I practiced what I taught and it works!  My wife agreed to a day out on Long Island to see the car and a nice lunch afterwards.  We were both impressed with the car and with the owners. This is a fully documented, all original, numbers matching, 12,000 original mile car.  The car was completed and shipped from Detroit Michigan on May 21, 1952.  It was delivered to W.H. Peters Cadillac, Inc. of Hackensack, NJ and delivered to its first owner, Mr. Lawrence Tuna of West Engelwood, NJ on June 12, 1952.  On June 27, 1974 the second owners purchased this car and in February of 2002 I became the third owner.

This car is very well equipped, as a Fleetwood standard equipment included Woolen Broadcloth and leather trim interior appointments, Hydro-Electric windows and seat adjustment and automatic transmission.  In addition, this car left the factory with the G-1 Option Package which included Windshield Washer, Sombrero Wheel Discs, Oil Filter, Fog Lights, License Plate Frames, Left Outside Mirror, Vanity Mirror.  In addition to the option group this car is also equipped with the upgraded Signal Seeking AM radio with dual speakers and power antenna, Deluxe Heater, Power Steering and E-Z Eye tinted glass.  In addition to these factory installed accessories the dealer upgraded the whitewall tires to Royal Globemaster tires, added a Lubrication Agreement, Undercoating and a Blue Coral treatment.  The ‘delivered” price of this car was $5,265.41, a princely sum in 1952 dollars!

The interior is completely original and appears as a car with 12,000 miles should.  The trunk is also original, the spare is the original Globemaster tube tire that was delivered with the car.  It appears to have never been removed!  Original paperwork and delivery documents, the original owners manual and the original “top off” bottle of Windshield Washer fluid that was delivered with the car are intact.  The car is a driving time capsule

Finished in Black with a two tone gray woolen broadcloth interior it is a very formal looking sedan measuring 224 ½ “ in length with a 130” long wheelbase.  This was the largest of the “owner driven” cars offered by Cadillac.  The 1952 models celebrated Cadillac's 50th anniversary and introduced the use of “Gold Plated” “V”s and emblems to commemorate this milestone in their history.
