GOLD COAST CADILLAC SHOW
SUNDAY OCTOBER 1ST. 2017
BY BOB CRIMMINS
THE RARITAN RIVER REGION-CLC HELD It’s 8TH. annual show today and it broke all records!!!
A perfect day with plenty of blue skies, puffy white clouds along with a temperature range of 65 to 70 degrees created the type of day you just have to get that Cadillac or la Salle out and show it off!!
Well, that’s just what happened and 110 cars showed up for the festivities at GOLD COAST CADILLAC.
Along with a great DJ and food vender, we had a speedy registration setup, plenty of merchandise and above all, great cars to look at and chat about.
Of the 110 cars, we had perhaps 12-15 non-Cadillacs join in for the festivities.
As is customary , we honor cars that were built in the years with a 7, this being 2017 we displayed cars from 1937, 1947,1957, 1967 and 1977 on the Showroom floor-always a big hit with the attendees and the proud owners.
Bernie Cooney and his excellent judging teams were out in the field and did a great job of covering all the cars.
Doug Lansing was able to gather up 3 young boys and sent them on their way to judge and pick 3 cars for our popular Youth Awards.
Ted Mandalakis and his trusty camera were busy throughout the day taking photographs of this great event.
3 Emeritus cars were also on display and special trophies were given to 2 of them –one for early and one late models.
Also, as the RARITAN RIVER REGION IS CELEBRATING our FIFTEEN ANNIVERSARY as a region of the CLC, we had 2 large sheet cakes to share with the folks and I guess it must have been really good because there was none left!!
Special thanks to Isabel Lehnhoff, Liz Esty and Mary Farese for there assistance in serving the cake to the attendees.
At 3 o’clock, the ribbons and trophies were handed out by Director Jeff Montgomery along with the youth awards and a special presentation to our host Keith Harvey, General Manager of GOLD COAST CADILLAC.
We want to thank Jack & Isabel Lehnhoff for their assistance in handling the merchandise sales along with Liz Estey who also helped with the 50/50 . Over $500.00 will be donated to St. Judes..
Special thanks to Joey Galante and his fantastic Verrazano Cadillac Club’s participation .They drove up-all 30 of them at one time!
There drive to the show must have been a show stopper along the highways to Gold Coast; when is the last time anyone saw 30 Cadillacs driving down the highway in tandem? Not sure how we will ever be able to top this one but, we are looking forward to next year’s show!!
