GOLD COAST CADILLAC
RRR ANNUAL SHOW
OCTOBER 16, 2016
By: Bob Crimmins
A cool morning for the 7AM arrival of the RRR volunteer team but as the day wore on, the sun gave us 70 degree temp’s with a slight cool breeze making it a PERFECT DAY for a car show.
And the cars came-75-80 including 8 non-Cadillacs a record breaker for this our 7th Show.
Many thanks to the Verrazano Cadillac Club for bringing 25 great cars to the show.
Chair Doug Lansing again did an outstanding job of coordinating everything. Chief judge Bernie Cooney and his excellent judging team did an outstanding job .
Rosemary Spicuzza and Bob Crimmins headed up the Registration area .
Our photography expert, Ted Mandalakis, camera in hand, roamed around and took many great pictures for us to enjoy.
Jack & Isabel Lehnhoff did an outstanding job at our sale table and thanks to Isabel for taking care of the 50/50– ½ went to the winner Liz Estes and the other ½ donated to JASON’S FRIEND FOUNDATION.
Doug Lansing again gathered up some of the young kids attending the show and sent them on their way, clipboard in hand to choose a First, Second and Third place award for this year’s Youth Awards.
Our DJ along with our new Food Vendor –GOOD FOOD/GOOD MOOD and the ice cream man in his 54 restored Chevy Ice cream truck helped make the day for us.
As this was the year of the 6’s, we displayed 2 1956 Series 62 Convertibles on the floor (George Maslow and Jay Raskin), a 1976 Coupe de Ville (Verrazano Caddy Club member) and Director Jeff Montgomery’s 1976 Fleetwood Brougham D’Elegance.
“Thanks to everyone who attended and to those RRR Volunteers who made the event trouble free,” said Director Jeff Montgomery as he started the awards presentation.
Jeff also thanked Keith Harvey our Gold Coast host for his hospitality and presented him with a gift-a Dan Reed Print called ELDORADO HOTEL – our way of saying “THANK YOU”.
This year’s major awards went to:
BEST OF SHOW:
Early-George Maslow-1956 Series 62 Convertible
Late-Barry Berman-1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible
Bob Crimmins-1955 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible
All in all, it turned out to be a perfect day for everyone who attended this memorable event!
We look forward to another great turnout for our 2017 Show.
