Our
Fourth Annual Spring Dust-Off was a complete success. Beautiful sunshine
worked wonders in dispelling the chill of the last day of winter/first day
of spring. This list of attendees resembled a who's who of the Raritan
River Region.
One of the stars of the show was Joe
Puleo, who arrived (accompanied by Ray Koziol) in his beautiful
1959 Fleetwood. Other notables in the parking lot were Rich and Marion
Nalavany's 1938 LaSalle Coach, George Scott in his 1941 Series
61, Dave Carney (with his guest Michael Casio) arriving in
Dave's stylish 1970 Coupe DeVille. Other notable cars and drivers were
Bob Rankin, 1980 Fleetwood, Andrew Monahan and Rose Mary Spicuzza
in their 1988 Brougham and Bernie Cooney in his stunning 1985
Seville. Arriving via more traditional transportation were Jeffrey
Montgomery, Jeff and Mary Hookway, Bob Crimmins, Lynn and Tony D'Agostino,
our president, Jay Raskin, Nick Medici, Roger and Marilyn Love, Bob &
Ann Losco, Pat Caruso, Mary Caruso and Dora Sargenti. But the real
stars of the show were Joe Manna, who came with the RRR's youngest
(and most alluring) member, Veronica. Veronica's natural ability
to entertain young and old alike made her a real hit.
This
year's menu was a break from our usual breakfast buffet. In addition to
traditional breakfast fare, the HomeTown Buffet also added brunch items,
with carving stations for roast beef and ham. There were no complaints
about not having enough food. And with a group like us, there was no
shortage of conversation. A short stroll to the parking lot was the
perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Where will we go for next year's
dust-off? All things are possible, so we'll just have to wait and see.
One thing is certain: When the RRR gets together socially, the outcome
always demonstrates what a wonderful group of people make up our Region.
