It
was hard to tell why the kids were smiling so much - was it because the
Watchung Police, Fire, and Rescue Squads came out in full force for the
parade? Maybe it was the three Cadillacs, representing three decades
of Cadillac prominence? The shiny Harley that joined the parade? Or
maybe, just maybe, it was the anticipation of another fun-filled year of
LITTLE LEAGUE!
Once again, the RRR was invited to participate in
Watchung's Annual Little League Parade. This rite of spring brings
together many community organizations to support the area's boys and girls
during the opening weekend of baseball and softball.
The
parade was lead by a sea of kids with their clean uniforms and brand-new
gloves! Next, came the RRR, a gorgeous Harley, the Watchung Fire Department, followed by the Watchung
Rescue Squad. Bernie Cooney lead the
Cadillac lineup with his '85 Seville, followed by Pat
Caruso in his '75 Sedan deVille and Ray Koziol in his
'62 Convertible. Ray had the honor of transporting Watchung Mayor
Albert Ellis. The parade route brought us around the
Watchung Circle and back to Mobus field, where the call "Play Ball!" would
soon be heard.
Thanks to our participants for continuing
the community spirit!
