OUR INAUGURAL DEALER SHOW |
|
Sunday, September 12, 2010 |
|
Gold Coast Cadillac - Hummer
2123 Highway 35, Oakhurst NJ
877-288-1920 |
| |
|
I've got sunshine
|
|
On a cloudy day |
|
When it's cold outside, |
|
I've got the month of May |
| |
|
The Temptations sang of "My Girl". I sing of Gold Coast
Cadillac. Yes, not even a hint of sunshine. Every few minutes the steady
rain threatened to halt. But it was only kidding. The Raritan River Region
knows how to take things in stride. We had "My Cadillac" |
| |
|
Well, I guess you'll say |
|
What can make me feel this say? |
|
My Cadillac (My Cadillac, my Cadillac) |
|
And we had Ponchos, but we won't discuss that now. |
| |
|
Two lucky cars were awarded position of honor inside Jeff
Genovese's showroom. Al Papetti's 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible
and
Bob Crimmins' 1955 Eldorado Convertible were room mates for the duration
(the personnel at the dealership didn't want to see them leave!). But a
few rain drops did little to discourage spirits at the debut of two
important events: The Debut of a great partnership between Gold Coast, and
the Raritan River Region. Plus this was the debut of the RRR's class
judging system. |
| |
|
Ray Koziol, one of the great organizational minds on the
RRR teamed up with Bernie Cooney. The result was a judging system that can
walk a judge and a car from entry level novice to Master Judge. Without
further delay, here are the results: |

Special thanks have to go to the judges who worked without complaint in
far less than ideal conditions: Nick Medici, Jeff Montgomery,
Rosemary Spicuzza, Andrew Monahan, Mike Barruzza, Jay Raskin and Joe
Puleo. |
 |
Special thanks go to our DJ/MC/musician,
Scott Giaquinto from Wayne, NJ who did a wonderful job of
lifting everyone's spirits. Contact Scott at
scottgmusic@optonline.net |
 |
Special thanks go to our Director Jay Raskin, who did an
admirable job with the awards presentation. |
 |
Special thanks to Bob Losco and Joe Puelo for procuring,
coordinating and transporting awards.
But there are two people, beyond everyone else, who can be credited for
making this show possible:
 |
Jeff Genovese
found time to give up his ONLY day off to host our appreciative group,
while managing Cadillac's best dealership, bar none. |
 |
And finally,
Darren Muso once again comes through in aces. When the Raritan
River Region needs an event to spell success, all's we do is call
Darren! Thanks! |

September 12th
was a watershed day for the Raritan River Region. Our first dealer show
at Gold Coast Cadillac and
our first successful attempt at class judging. But sprinkled among the
rain drops was a very special presentation to a unique young individual.
Jeff and Noah Wilk have been working shoulder to shoulder on their
1959 Fleetwood. Instead of spending time skate boarding, Noah had helped
his dad renovate the interior of one
of the family's classics.
Instead of texting and social networking,
Noah was busy removing the interior,
dying the leather, replacing the carpet, etc and then reassembling
everything. |
| |
|
In front of all in
attendance, Noah was presented with a plaque reading: |
| |
|
The Board
of Directors of the Raritan River Region Cadillac & LaSalle Club presents
this |
|
Certificate
of Youth Achievement to |
|
NOAH
WILK |
|
In
recognition of his interest in the Antique and Classic Car hobby |
|
and in
addition, for his participation in the restoration of a 1959 Fleetwood. |
| |
|
True hobbyists know that the real reward will be the
finished restoration, |
|
but in the mean time, we hope Noah Wilk appreciates
his award for a job well done! |
