Assisted Living Tours - In Conjunction with Somerset County Library System, NJ Region AACA, and RRR-CLC

Sometimes cooperation is the key. On September 18, 2010 several organizations combined forces. The result was an entertaining day, one disabled vehicle, two delicious meals and two enjoyable venues. Here's how it all shook down:

Bob Allen, outreach director for the Somerset County Library made arrangements with two diverse assisted living facilities (one old, one new) and two diverse antique automobile clubs (also one old, one new). The New Jersey Region of the AACA and the Raritan River Region, CLC combined forces to entertain the residents at the above mentioned facilities. Representing the car clubs were Pat Caruso and Bernie Cooney.

At Brandywine we had breakfast, then the residents voted for their favorite cars. The results were:

	1st place, Don and Pauline Symonds, 1959 Chevrolet;
	2nd place, George Scott, 1941 Cadillac;
	3rd place, Jim and Gloria Edwards, 1927 Ford Model "T";
	Also in attendance was Pat Caruso, 1975 Cadillac Sedan; LeRoy and Marlene Gearhart, 1965 Ford Falcon; Bob Grub, 1966 Mustang; Bernie Cooney 1953 Cadillac; Frank and Lia Figorotta, 1951 Chevy; Rich Nalavany, 1936 Ford; Ray Koziol, 1962 Cadillac; Dominic and Eva Tucci, 1968 Cadillac; Earle Genge, 1949 Triumph.

A little later at Eastern Star, the following cars won prizes:

	Jim and Gloria Edwards, 1927 Ford Model "T";
	Bernie Cooney 1953 Cadillac;
	Don and Pauline Symonds, 1959 Chevrolet;
	Also in attendance were Pat Caruso, 1975 Cadillac; Ray Koziol, 1962 Cadillac; Frank and Lia Figorotta, 1951 Chevrolet; LeRoy and Marlene Gearhart, 1965 Ford Falcon; Bob Grub, 1966 Ford Mustang; Dominic and Eva Tucci, 1968 Cadillac; George Scott, 1941 Cadillac; Don Haynes, 1956 Ford Pick-up; Earl Genge, 1949 Triumph, Sven Mangulson, 1973 Ford Mustang (representing Dave and Brenda Zimmerman).

The weather was perfect, the food was good, the residents had a great time. Now doesn't it seem to benefit all when people and clubs cooperate?

Just a little post script of Dedication: Earle Genge's 1949 Triumph broke down enroute. Earle, being the stalwart traveler that he is, made do with modern transportation to finish the day.
