Black
Forest Inn
July 15, 2006
Cadillacs and Classics met for the second
time in Stanhope NJ. And Bob and Grace Gluck had surprises in
store. And you thought you had these dynamic multi talented people
figured out. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. On July
15, 2006, the Raritan River Region was invited to join the Metro Region,
CCCA for a little luncheon at the Black Forest Inn in Stanhope NJ.
Does one go there for the food? There
is no doubt this buffet rivals Granny’s victuals six ways to Sunday.
Is it for the unique Gluck style auction? It is difficult to
fathom having this much fun while helping out the club treasury.
Is it for the assemblage of automobiles not grouped together anywhere
else? This eclectic mix of full classics and Cadillacs has to be
seen to be appreciated.
Perhaps the truth comes close to the fact
that when 60 people from two different car clubs come together,
formalities last as long as lemon ice at the Jersey Shore. Packard
people beguile their new-found Cadillac compatriots.
Duesenberg and Cord experts are
enchanted by Cadillac tales. In short this amalgamation of people
enjoys each other’s company.
The repeat of Cadillacs and Classics had a
special treat this year. For many months the RRR has had a team of
judges waiting in the wings. They had been honing their skills,
rehearsing their craft, waiting for the day when they would be called to
action. Today was their chance to get some on-the-job-training.
Bob and Grace invited our crack judging team to select first, second and
third place cars in three classes. The result was that our team,
short on cohesive practice, was long on skill and knowledge.
Viktor Tkeczenko, Pat Caruso, Ray Koziol, Helen Newman, Aaron
Newman, Joe Puleo, Jay Raskin and Paul Samperi made short work of
acknowledging nine superior Cadillacs spanning the years 1911 thru 1980.
No small task. Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to
the ace judging staff.
And Bob and Grace’s surprise? It
seems as though Bob and Ann Losco's 1911 Model 30 is a very beguiling
car. Although Bob and Grace will stay committed to the workings of
the Metro Region and the RRR, verbiage indicated a fondness for early
cars. Will the Gluck Garage one day house a true horseless
carriage? Only time will tell.
