On May 21st
twenty-two RRR members and guests arrived at Morven House for a tour and
lecture on the history of the property. We received an in-depth
historical overview of the property from the time it was first built by
the Stockton family, to its use as the Governor’s Mansion right through
present day and its ongoing restoration. During the tour points of
interest abounded. From the original construction techniques to the
window glass and naturally the furnishings, many of which pre dated Henry
Leland’s first Cadillac.
After the
tour and with our cars safely secured in Morven’s parking lot many of us
embarked upon a walking tour of Princeton. With many of our members
taking full advantage of the open stores along Nassau Street. We were on
our own for lunch, but as is RRR tradition a large number of us grouped
together for sandwiches at a quaint little luncheonette. With lunch over
it back to the cars and we were homeward bound.
Our thanks
to Pat Caruso for all his hard work in setting up this tour. Thanks Pat!
