Clinton Cadillac Dealer Show
A Huge Success!
by Caddy Corner Editor, Ray Koziol
With a lot of hard work done by both the Raritan
River Region and Clinton Cadillac-Chevrolet, and a little luck
with the weather man resulted in a spectacular dealer show on June 12th.
A warm, sunny day combined with the hospitality of Byron Brisby Jr. and
his staff at Clinton Cadillac Chevrolet created the perfect environment
for a perfect show.
A huge turnout of Raritan River Region members,
just about 80% of our total membership participated. Planning for
this show began at the beginning of the year when a small committee met
with Byron to discuss the details of the show. Byron shared with us what
he wanted to accomplish and we provided the details as to what we could
reasonably provide, and so, a partnership of sorts began to unfold. This
was not only our first solo dealer show but Clinton Cadillac-Chevrolet's
first venture into the car show game. Byron made it clear that it was his
intention that this show was to be a success. He was going to advertise
the event via local newspapers, radio and cable television. His staff
would distribute flyers at a local cruise night. He also sent flyers to
his customer and prospect base. We in turn marketed the event through our
website and newsletter. A special reminder was inserted in our special
mailing dealing with elections and dues renewal. In addition our members
distributed flyers at local car shows and cruise nights. We also reached
out to a local region of the Chevrolet club and advised them of the
event. These modes of marketing worked and participation, particularly
among our region members was extraordinary.
On the day of the show we had each decade, with the
exception of the 20’s covered with multiple cars. In fact we had not one,
but two very early cars, a Robert Rich's 1910 Cadillac and Bob Losco’s
1911 Model 30 Touring. Walking through the show field you could trace
Cadillac history from the very early years right up to the present (yes,
we also had a 2004 Neiman Marcus XLR participating).
The general public also turned out in large numbers
for this event. By late morning and early afternoon throngs of people
were viewing the show. True to his word, Byron spared no expense in
setting up this show. We, along with the general public were treated to
coffee and breakfast goodies in the morning and a barbecue for lunch. A
large tent was set up with table seating for at least 100 guests with
overflow seating set up within the dealership. A DJ provided music and a
local radio station was broadcasting live from the show. It was a
memorable day!
The partnership forged between Clinton
Cadillac-Chevrolet and our region resulted in a well run, well attended
first class show. We would like to thank Byron Brisby Jr. and his staff
at Clinton Cadillac-Chevrolet for their fine efforts!
